Seminar

Seminar in Lima

The seminar “Designing Insightful Innovation” was organised in Lima, Peru, between May 28 and June 2, 2019 and brought together 8 youth workers, two from each partner organisation.

During the six days of activity, using non-formal learning, the participants did some research, debates and drafted a collection of best practices to be used in the upcoming format training course.

During the seminar participants shared their know-how in the various fields of activities they have been involved in: working with disabled youngsters, mostly visually impaired, and youngsters with fewer opportunities. For doing so, participants prepared, prior to the seminar, a presentation of compiled techniques that they tested and worked successfully with disabled and fewer opportunity youth in the local communities, nationally and internationally, but not limited to this target group. The main areas of development and innovation during the seminar were:

  • Techniques and methods: tools that they have been using in their work with the target groups of this project, and gained results;
  • Non-formal education learning: a concise approach from all the partners involved in the project of why, what and how to use non-formal education with the target groups;
  • Collaborative research: in this particular area, partners, youth/social workers and leaders of the organisation collaboratively worked on finding and testing the latest activities, methods, tools, techniques that can boost the competences of both the participants in the upcoming training course and youth exchange;
  • Designing the format training course: participants in the seminar spent the last 2 days designing the format training course to be implemented in such a way that it covers 5 key aspects:
    • Awareness of global issues in the field of youth;
    • Social development and participation;
    • Community participation;
    • Employability;
    • Sense of entrepreneurship.
